Michigan Basketball: 3 takeaways from the win against Villanova
By Adam Childs
Michigan Basketball got some revenge Wednesday night as they went into Villanova and came out with a huge win. Will this win propel Michigan to once again be a top contender in the nation?
The Michigan basketball team joined its football counterparts in joining the revenge tour last night as they won their National Championship rematch with Villanova. Michigan started off hot and never looked back as they never trailed in a game that looked like they were playing a mid-major team instead of the defending National Championship. The final score was 73-46 in the Wolverines favor.
Villanova definitely looks like a completely different team than the one the Wolverines lost to in April, but nevertheless, this was a very good win for Michigan. They looked sharp on offense, especially in the first half and again took it to another level defensively.
John Beilein had to be pleased with the effort that his team put in last night in a tough environment to play in. Not only did they win the game they completely blew the Wildcats out of their own gym. Villanova had not lost by double-digits in 106 games. To put that into perspective, the next longest streak is Cincinnati at 28 games.
What happened last night just has not happened in a very long time for Villanova. So just what did we learn about the Wolverines from their blowout win last night. Let’s take a look at some key takeaways.
