Butler basketball has competed in six games so far in this young season, taking five victories along the way. What have been some of the biggest takeaways?

The opening month of the 2018-19 season for Butler basketball is complete. And while there have been some ups and downs in the early portion of the campaign, the team stands at 5-1 and in strong shape moving forward. Kamar Baldwin has already lived up to the hype as one of the best players in the country and several players have emerged as legitimate scorers in the supporting cast.

Additionally, it is important to mention that the Dawgs have already tested themselves with a few tough contests. Most notably, Butler traveled to the Bahamas to compete in the Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament. And while losing to Dayton in the first round was an unexpected disappointment, the team responded extremely well with victories over Middle Tennessee and Florida.

Butler basketball looked very impressive in these last two games, especially on the defensive end of the floor. With Baldwin and Jorgensen leading the offense and outstanding perimeter defense, the Bulldogs can be a difficult matchup for a lot of teams. And with the Big East as a whole struggling in this early season, Butler projects as one of the better teams in the conference.

Without any further ado, though, here are five of my biggest observations regarding the Butler basketball team and their future NCAA Tournament hopes after the opening month of the new season.
