Feast Week has wrapped up following a ton of high-profile games. Here are the biggest takeaways from the past week in NCAA Basketball.
The NCAA Basketball season was at its non-conference peak this past week with all of the early season tournament going on and, with all the basketball being played, there is plenty to sort through.
Duke’s dreams of an undefeated season came crashing down in Maui like a wave in the Pacific Ocean thanks to Gonzaga, who many now feel might be the best team in the nation. You can count Coach K in that camp as he praised the Zags following their victory over the Blue Devils.
"“[Few has done] a marvelous job with his program. And it’s an honor to play against him and their fan base, and it’s a great game for college basketball today. The fan base is there, the effort, and two outstanding programs. That was really good basketball today.”"
Of course, it wouldn’t be college basketball if there wasn’t a little bit of debate now, would it?
Kansas also made their claim for the No. 1 spot by beating both Marquette and Tennessee to win the NIT Season Tip-Off. Ranked No. 1 in the preseason, the Jayhawks felt disrespected when they were jumped by Duke – and they don’t want to be jumped again.
While the battle for No. 1 is very much between those two teams, don’t sleep on No. 4 Virginia, who cruised through the Battle 4 Atlantis and are still undefeated.
Elsewhere, the sky is no longer falling on Villanova thanks to wins over Canisius and Oklahoma State while Texas Tech proved they will be a force to be reckoned with in the Big 12 after beating both USC and Nebraska by double digits.
