Michigan Basketball: 3 keys for the Wolverines against North Carolina
By Adam Childs
Slow the tempo of the game
It’s no secret that North Carolina loves to play in transition. They run and they run and then they run some more. Roy Williams best offense is when they score on the fast break. Yes they can play the half court game but they are much more comfortable getting the ball down the court as quick as they can.k
Michigan knows this and they will need to limit that as much as possible. The good news is that they have been very good at guarding against that. They get back quick defensively and they have been very good about not turning the ball over which leads to fast break opportunities.
Michigan can score quickly but they do a great job working their offense also which will help slow the pace of the game. The biggest thing the Wolverines need to try and avoid is keeping up with North Carolina if they get running. They need to not fall into the trap of taking quick shots because the Tar Heels are playing quick. It is easy to start to play fast when the other team is. They need to slow it down and take their time.
if they can do that and force North Carolina into a half-court game they have a great shot at winning this game. Michigan has proven they can guard anybody in the half court and they believe they can do the same to the Tar Heels on Wednesday night.
