Charles Bassey, Forward, Western Kentucky

13.3 PPG, 9.6 RPG, 2.4 BPG, 1.6 SPG

It’s safe to say that Charles Bassey at Western Kentucky was what many hoped Mitchell Robinson to be at WKU.

A consensus Top-20 5-star recruit out of High School, Bassey went a different route with his recruitment and thus far it has seemed to pay off for the 6’11” Nigerian born big man.

While the Hilltoppers may have stumbled out of the gate a bit at 4-3, Bassey has remained a beacon of consistency for the team.  With only one game scoring in single digits (8 points against Valpo), Bassey has had his hand in mix scoring, rebounding and protecting the rim.

Bassey has shot less than .500% only one time from the field and has a knack for getting to the free throw line, having taken more free throws than field goals in two games already.

December could be a daunting month for the Hilltoppers and could either expose or showcase the skillset of Bassey.  Of their six games this month, four are against KenPom Top 100 squads. The looming showdown on December 29th with Wisconsin and Ethan Happ will be one to circle on the schedule to see how Bassey handles the bright lights of a true Big Ten challenger.
