Mid-Major Player of The Month: Ja Morant

Chris Clemons is a scoring machine.  CJ Massinburg is an as skilled all-around guard as you can find.  Charles Bassey is a jack of all trades among big men.  Mike Daum is as pure a shooter as you can find.

But Ja Morant?  JA MORANT?!

This guy is an absolute stud.  While you can argue he needs to protect the ball better, which is more than valid, this kid has so much upside to him.  His 38 point outing on .552 shooting against Alabama was an introduction for many who may not have been aware of his skillset.

Leading up to the season it seemed that the hype gained traction.  Be it Fran Fraschilla Tweeting about him or Jonathan Givony placing him in the first round of his 2019 NBA Mock Draft, Morant already had people talking.

NBADraft.net currently pegs Morant as the 10th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft while The Stepien ranks Morant as a Tier 3 prospect, along with names such as Daniel Gafford, Rui Hachimaura, Jalen McDaniels, Romeo Langford, and Keldon Johnson.

Not bad company to be in for the Sophomore guard who was widely considered to be nothing more than a 2-star recruit coming out of High School. Suddenly he’s morphed into a consensus NBA Draft pick. And he’s only giving us more reason to believe so.
