Butler basketball suffered its second loss of this season in their last game. Which points of emphasis will help the Dawgs get back on track against Brown?

Due to a poor overall offensive showing, including combined 5-for-30 (16.7%) shooting from its two leading scorers, Butler basketball fell in their first true road game of the year to Saint Louis. This was an altogether rough outing for the team but that does not mean that they cannot return to their winning ways. That loss represented a sub-par offensive performance from just about everyone on the roster and the team still managed to stay within striking distance before time eventually ran out.

Now, the Dawgs will look to add another victory to their resume with Brown coming to town. To this point in the year, Brown holds a 6-3 record that includes winning six of their last seven games. With this said, though, the Bears’ adjusted strength of schedule rating currently stands at  342nd in the nation (out of 353). Additionally, their toughest matchup to date, which came on the road against Rhode Island, resulted in a 20-point loss for the Bears.

This matchup will represent Butler’s first home game in nearly three weeks. The Dawgs took care of business against Ole Miss during their last performance in front of the Hinkle Fieldhouse faithful on Nov. 16. And yes, Butler’s streak of 46 consecutive non-conference home wins will once again be on the line in this matchup.

So, with hopes of keeping this streak alive and getting back on track offensively, let’s dive into three potential keys to success for Butler basketball against Brown. (All statistics used in this article are via Sports-Reference and KenPom.)
