2. What should be done with Texas Tech?

Just a few short weeks ago, the Texas Tech Red Raiders weren’t even in the AP Top 25.

Now, they’re No. 13, the second-highest ranked team in the entire Big 12, trailing only Kansas.

The Red Raiders are undefeated, despite losing Zhaire Smith and Keenan Evans in the offseason. If nothing else, Chris Beard has continued to distinguish himself as one of the game’s best coaches.

Victories for Texas Tech are a mixed bag. Four of them have come against uninspiring mid-major opponents, while the other three have come by double-digits against USC (decent), Memphis (meh), and Nebraska (now ranked, so that’s good).

A home date with Arkansas-Pine Bluff isn’t going to change many minds this week.

And the following week brings dates with Northwestern State and Alcorn State, begging the question: could this schedule get any more unappealing?

Luckily, Texas Tech plays in a competitive major conference, which will spruce up their various scheduling metrics by the time March comes.

By virtue of being one of the few remaining unbeatens from a major conference, a spot in the top 20 is warranted. Their schedule to this point doesn’t demonstrate a team worthy of being No. 13 though…not yet, anyways.

Get back to me if they beat Duke on December 20.
