Houston (6-0)

In the early going, it’s looking like the Houston Cougars might be the current favorites to take the down trodden American Athletic Conference.  Sitting at 6-0, Kelvin Sampson has scored some impressive wins with a 76-62 victory on the road against the Yoeli Childs led BYU Cougars as well as a marquee home win against Bol Bol and the Oregon Ducks.

The other four wins, however, don’t move the needle much as Houston also holds wins over Alabama A&M, Rice, Northwestern State and UT-Rio Grande Valley with all four games being home games for the Cougars.

While not as a brutal as Arizona State may have to play through, Houston similarly has a tricky month of December ahead of them with a road game against Oklahoma State followed by some tricky home games LSU, Saint Louis and Utah State.

The Cowboys have been better than advertised this year, and could be a tough outing for Houston.  Both teams do an excellent job on both ends of the floor and could make for an interesting chess match.  Heading into their showdown on December 8th, it’s fair to say this is essentially a pick ’em game, and for that, I’ll give Oklahoma State the slight edge further proving that they are better than they were advertised in the pre-season.

Next Loss: @ Oklahoma State, December 8th.
