2: Davidson (8-1)

A lot of people were worried about Davidson’s depth and experience coming into the season after losing Peyton Aldridge. It’s hardly a hot take to say they have the deadliest backcourt in the conference between Kellan Grady and Jon Axel-Gundmundsson (who combine for 38.4 points per game) but we had to wait and see if those two would have enough support around them to make the Wildcats a contender. Well, after 9 strong games, we’ve been given our answer: they do.

Of course, no one in the supporting cast will be able to have the impact that Aldridge had last season, but they’ve been effective using a total team approach so far. Outside of the Grady-Gudmundsson duo, four other players are averaging at least 5 points per game, and each one of them has the ability to go off on any given night if defenses ignore them. The most impressive of all of them has been big man Luka Brajkovic, who’s averaging 10.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest. As long as this team can stay healthy, and if KiShawn Pritchett can start finding his stroke (29% from deep so far after shooting 44% last season), this team will have enough pure talent in its backcourt to overwhelm nearly almost every A10 opponent they’ll face.
