NCAA Basketball Buy or Sell: Are Iowa and Wisconsin Big Ten contenders this season?
By Bryan Mauro
After an entertaining slate of games in November, there are still plenty of NCAA Basketball teams that people are unsure about. Should you buy or sell on them?
As the calendar turns to December, and the college basketball schedule picks up many of teams in the country are starting to form an identity. Many of these teams are living up to the expectations set on them, either good or bad. Other teams are going the opposite of their expectations, which shows so far in this season they are either a surprise or a disappointment. The next set of teams remain a question mark. These teams have looked both good and bad and have noticeable flaws that are going to be difficult to overcome.
Every month some of these teams will be reviewed. They will be reviewed and given a tag of buy, sell or hold. Teams given the tag of “buy” are all teams believed to continue of their current upward trajectory.
These teams are usually playing well and have exceeded the expectations placed on them at this point. The teams with “sell” tag are who’s currently trending downward and are underachieving. If given the sell designation it does not appear, they are going to change the trend.
The last designation is those teams who will be given the tag of “hold”. It means that it is too early to tell if the team will continue to trend upward or will continue to trend downward. These teams will usually finish better than their projections but will fall off from their early season run. It could also mean that these teams have flaws are winning close games against inferior competition. It remains to be seen what will happen once the competition gets cranked up.
The first edition of buy, sell or hold features teams ranked in the top 25, teams who were projected by many to make the NCAA tournament. It also features teams who have come out of nowhere early on this year to surprise some teams. Teams from every conference and every region are eligible. These five teams have made this month’s list.
