NBA Draft 2019: Barrett, Williamson battle for top pick in mock draft
By Brian Rauf
No. 26-30
26) Oklahoma City Thunder – Brandon Clarke, PF, Gonzaga
Hachimura and Zach Norvell Jr. are Gonzaga’s two best players, but the 6-8 Clarke continues to intrigue scouts. OKC has found success with Jerami Grant at the four spot, and Clarke would be able to provide a similar athletic player (with tremendous upside) at the same position off the bench.
27) Milwaukee Bucks – Jaylen Hoard, SF/PF, Wake Forest
Hoard fits the Milwaukee mold as a long, athletic big who has a 7-1 wingspan and a good face-up offensive game. He won’t be able to contribute right away but has good long-term upside.
28) Boston Celtics (via Los Angeles Clippers) – Luka Samanic, PF, Croatia
Samanic is a project at 6-10 and 210 pounds but can either score in the post or stretch defenses on the perimeter. As we’ve discussed with the Celtics, they have the ability to be patient and keep him overseas if they so choose.
29) Brooklyn Nets (via Denver Nuggets) – Shamorie Ponds, PG, St. John’s
The Nets are looking for point guard depth and scoring off the bench. Ponds, a Brooklyn-native, has the potential to fill both roles and is one of the most exciting players in college basketball.
30) San Antonio Spurs (via Toronto Raptors) – Charles Bassey, C, Western Kentucky
Bassey was a five-star prospect who has fallen a bit off the radar while playing at Western Kentucky.
He hasn’t been as dominant as many expected but is still an elite rebounder and shot-blocker with tremendous athleticism. You’d have to believe the Spurs would be able to develop and get the most out of his immense physical gifts.
