If it were not for Arizona State, the Pac-12 might not even be on this list. The Sun Devils have looked good so far in going 7-0 and are ranked 20th in the latest polls. The problem with them is that we saw this show last year and then they fell apart when the conference schedule started and barely made it into the NCAA tournament. If they fall then the conference will be in trouble. RIght now they look like the only sure tournament team.

Colorado and Oregon State both only have one loss but they have beat no major conference teams and have lost to San Diego and Missouri respectively. Arizona and UCLA are next, but while Arizona put up a fight with Gonzaga they have not exactly looked wonderful either. UCLA lost badly to their two toughest tests of the year in Vegas when North Carolina and Michigan State disposed of them.

Washington has looked ok, but they are not scaring anybody. Same with Washington State. But the biggest disappointment would have to be Oregon. They were considered the favorite of the conference, but lost early to Iowa and then Texas Southern and Houston. For a team expected to be near the top, this is not a good way to start the year.

The Pac-12 still has a chance to improve but right now they look like a one or two bid league. Who would have thought the conference would rely on Arizona State to carry it?
