Top local stars playing in this rivalry

Marquette’s second leading scorer is Sam Hauser from Stevens Point, WI. He was a top-100 recruit in 2016. He’s now a junior and is averaging over 14 points per game, six boards, two assists and has made over 20 three-pointers. His younger brother, Joey, was a top-60 recruit this year and has made six starts in nine games. Joey is averaging over 10 points and close to five boards per game.

Anderson from Wisconsin was High School teammates with the Hauser’s where they won a lot of ball games for Stevens Point Area Senior High. On a side note, that is the same high school that I graduated from in 2011.

The top-two Wisconsinites for the Badgers are Brevin Pritzl and Kobe King. Pritzl is from De Pere which is part of the Green Bay area. He was a top-100 recruit in 2015 and is averaging over six points per game as a redshirt junior. He comes off the bench with the hopes of hitting a timely three-pointer throughout the game.

King is from La Crosse which is on the western part of the state near Minnesota. He’s another key bench player for Wisconsin’s back court who is a redshirt freshman after missing most of last year with an injury.

The fifth guy who should see some minutes is Matt Heldt from Neenah which is near Appleton, just south of Green Bay. Heldt has played in eight out of nine games, averaging under 10 minutes per game, but should see some action in the game against an in-state opponent.

These guys have seen each other through the AAU circuit and during traveling basketball leagues. In fact, Stevens Point just fell to De Pere on November 30 and will be playing La Crosse Central on Friday night.

It’s good to know some background on the guys who will be playing in this in-state rivalry game. It’ll be a competitive match up once again.
