1. Michigan State Spartans

Despite the fact that Michigan State is already a top-10 team and seemingly a lock for the NCAA Tournament, every game matters to improve their resume. And during this past week, the Spartans took care of business in two big games. Both were impressive performances for head coach Tom Izzo’s team, which, although a tad inconsistent, seems to improve with each game.

First, they took down Iowa in very convincing fashion at the Breslin Center. This wound up as a 22-point victory and it was seemingly over just a few minutes after tip-off. Nick Ward (26 points on 10-for-10 shooting) paced the team in this while Cassius Winston dropped off 12 assists.

Following that victory, Michigan State went on the road and took down Florida in Gainesville. And while the Gators might not be as talented as they have been in the past, this road win will definitely improve the Spartans’ resume come March. Xavier Tillman was the major contributor in this low-scoring battle, posting 14 points (6-for-7 FG) and 9 rebounds in 28 minutes off the bench.

When this season is all said and done, both of these could be recorded as Quadrant 1 wins and should improve MSU’s resume greatly in regards to seeding.
