6) This week in the Pac-12

There was actually some good news in the Pac-12 this week!

Washington played their best game of the season against Gonzaga and Arizona State looked like a legitimate top-25 team against Nevada. Arizona also won at UConn last Sunday. Yes, the Huskies and Sun Devils lost their games but they proved they could hang with some of the very best teams in the country. So, progress!

Other teams did not perform as admirably.

In the game before Nevada-Arizona State, USC got shellacked by TCU, losing by 35 and causing many (including myself) to wonder if they’re even a good team. Cal lost to two teams from the West Coast Conference (Saint Mary’s, San Francisco).

Maybe Oregon State and Colorado will be better than expected? Those teams are 6-1 and 7-1, respectively, on the year but haven’t really been tested. The Pac-12 needs them to be legit for the conference to repair some of the negative perception of them this year.
