14. Virginia Tech Hokies
Last Week: No. 19
Virginia Tech has been simply dominant in recent performances. The Hokies are 3-0 since their road loss to Penn State with an average margin of victory of 37.3 points. Regardless of the level of competition, these performances have been tremendous and bode well for the future of the team. It certainly seems as though the Hokies are taking out the frustration from their lone loss this season on anyone who gets in their path at the moment.
Looking ahead, head coach Buzz Williams’ team has a tough neutral-site matchup with Washington coming up next. And while the Huskies have been a tad disappointing so far this year, they can be a major threat. After that, VT returns home for two expected cupcake matchups against MEAC schools to close non-conference play.
As I have mentioned time and time again so far this season, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Justin Robinson form one of the best playmaking backcourts in the nation. The two guards are combining to average 32.7 points and 10.2 assists per game so far this season as the guiding forces of one of the more balanced offenses in the nation. From a broader perspective, the Hokies are averaging 82.0 points scored (51st nationally) and 57.6 points allowed per game (7th nationally) through nine games.
