NCAA Basketball Power Rankings: Indiana, Marquette quietly rising
24. TCU Horned Frogs
Last week: Unranked
TCU may have fallen out of the rankings following a loss to Lipscomb earlier in the year but they are finally healthy. With Kouat Noi and Jaylen Fisher now both on the floor, the Horned Frogs are playing up to their potential and it showed during this past week when they went away from home to snag a road win over SMU and a neutral-site victory over USC. Quite simply, these were two fairly impressive wins to move TCU’s record to 7-1. And with a rather easy remaining non-conference schedule, I would honestly be surprised if the Horned Frogs were not in the AP top-25 by the time Big 12 play rolls around.
Fisher, although not quite at 100% yet, is playing quite well so far upon his return from injury. Through five games, the star is averaging 11.2 points on 48.6% shooting from three in 24.6 minutes per game. But he is far from alone in terms of major contributions for the Horned Frogs. Four other players are currently averaging in double-figures, including Alex Robinson (13.1 points, 9.0 assists) who is closing in on a double-double average as a guard.
So, despite a bit of a slow start, TCU seems to be hitting its stride here in early December. Can they build on this past week and start to rise up the rankings prior to Big 12 play? Maybe.
