Butler basketball has a major opportunity for a quality win coming up as the team will take on the Indiana Hoosiers at the annual Crossroads Classic.

The Crossroads Classic is one of the best annual events in college basketball. The state of Indiana is well-known for its basketball tradition and this event brings together the four best basketball schools: Butler, Indiana, Notre Dame, and Purdue. This one-day, neutral-site event brings together the rabid fans from around the state to cheer on their teams. In the second game of the event this year, Butler basketball will take on Indiana.

This will mark the eighth consecutive season of this event taking place at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, IN. Some incredible games have transpired over the years and there should be even more great moments in store during this edition. For reference, here are the records of each program in the event (Reminder: Purdue and Indiana, who both play in the Big Ten Conference, never meet at the Crossroads):

  • Butler Bulldogs: 5-2 (.714)
  • Indiana Hoosiers: 4-3 (.571)
  • Notre Dame Fighting Irish: 3-4 (.429)
  • Purdue Boilermakers: 2-5 (.288)

In looking ahead to the most hyped college basketball event in Indiana of the year, I will be breaking down keys to success in each game for each team, starting with Butler basketball. Stay on the lookout for keys for IU, ND, and Purdue over the next couple of days leading up to the event.

To this point in the year, both Butler and Indiana have posted solid seasons. The two schools each have a couple of solid wins on their resume to go with a couple of losses. In my opinion, both teams currently sit in the 20-35 range in the nation and are fairly evenly matched on paper. Butler is led by guards Kamar Baldwin and Paul Jorgensen while the dynamic duo of hometown favorite Romeo Langford and dominant force Juwan Morgan headline for Indiana.

So, without any further ado, let’s dive into analyzing how the Butler Bulldogs might attack the Indiana Hoosiers during this edition of the Crossroads Classic.
