NCAA Basketball: 3 team options for potential Villanova transfer Jahvon Quinerly
Villanova five-star freshman Jahvon Quinerly has played sparingly this season. After a cryptic Instagram post, could the highly-touted guard be on the move?
The 26th-ranked player in the Class of 2018 by ESPN, Jahvon Quinerly was expected to make a big impact in his freshman season with Villanova.
However, through 11 games, Quinerly is averaging just 8.6 minutes per game, and hasn’t made much of an impact in those minutes.
After playing just one minutes and not recording a single statistic in Villanova’s loss to Penn on Tuesday, Quinerly posted a cryptic message to his instagram story.
Quinerly has every right to be upset. As a five-star recruit, you’d expect to play anywhere. And while Quinerly has rarely found the court, he hasn’t done much of anything during that playing time, averaging just 2.4 points per game, and one assist.
Quinerly was a member of the 2018 McDonald’s All American Team, and was one of the top point guards in his class, ranked seventh by ESPN.
Quinerly was also the Wildcats top recruit, and after losing four key players to the NBA, it was totally expected that Quinerly would be one of the top players on the Villanova team, and that he would play a similar role to the one that Jalen Brunson played as a freshman on Villanova’s 2016 National Championship team.
It’s clear that Quinerly isn’t in Villanova’s plans for this season, if not in the future. If that were to be true, it would be wise for the one time five-star recruit to transfer.
If he does decide to take his talents elsewhere, here are three schools he could be connected to.
