NCAA Basketball: 3 team options for potential Villanova transfer Jahvon Quinerly
Arizona Wildcats
Back in August of 2017, Quinerly committed to the University of Arizona. However, after Arizona’s rumored deep involvement in the corruption scandal, and rumors that Quinerly accepted a $15,000 bribe from an Arizona assistant, Quinerly decommitted from Arizona.
Now that the FBI probe is less in the news, could Quinerly reconsider Arizona? The Wildcats are off to a rough start at 7-3, and lost the bulk of their 2018 recruits as a result of the FBI investigation.
One important thing to remember is that Quinerly would not be eligible to play until 2020. Arizona has a spectacular 2019 recruiting class, and will likely be back to their premier program status by the time Quinerly would be eligible to return to the court.
The Wildcats’ 2019 class is ranked #1 nationally by 247Sports, and includes a pair of five-star recruits in forward Josh Green and point guard Nico Mannion.
Those two could set the Wildcats up for a great 2020 recruiting class, and thus make Arizona a much more desirable free agent destination than they currently are. No matter if Green and/or Mannion are one-and-done, Quinerly will likely be joining a Top-25 Arizona team.
Finally, Arizona would be a great fit for Quinerly regardless of who he’s surrounded by. Point guards have always thrived under Arizona Head Coach Sean Miller, and the connection between Miller and Quinerly is clearly strong, considering that he was committed to Arizona for some time.
The FBI Investigation is not complete, and Arizona can still be disciplined as a result, but all drama aside, there’s no doubting the connection between Quinerly and Arizona.
