8. Alabama Crimson Tide

Last Week: 6th (↓ 2)

Alabama is one of the least consistent teams in the SEC. Their previous loss to UCF was made even more embarrassing when Missouri was able to upset the Knights in overtime. The season took a turn for the worst when they blew a 20+ point lead on Georgia State. That game showed  the Tide’s inconsistencies. At their peaks in the game, they seemed to be a dominant team. At their lows, they appeared to be one of the worst in the conference. These inconsistencies have to stop to save the Tide’s season.

Alabama managed to get over their issues before the Arizona game, where they won by three. It was a hard-fought game, but Kira Lewis and Alex Reese helped the Tide come away with the victory.

In a grand scheme of things, Alabama has to get more production out of Herb Jones. He came into this season with a lot of hype, but he hasn’t lived up to it as of yet. His offense needs to grow, because Alabama doesn’t have enough firepower on offense to make up for having a defensive specialist on the court. Dazon Ingram also needs to step up his game on offense. His finishing around the rim leaves fans wanting more, and his decision-making isn’t always ideal.

The best player on the team for Alabama is definitely Kira Lewis, their child prodigy at the point guard position. He is nowhere near his ceiling, and he already has produced more than Coach Johnson could ask for. Once he minimizes mistakes all freshmen make, things will be trending up for the Tide.
