1. Tennessee needs to be patient in the halfcourt
The first key for the Volunteers is to be patient on offense and take good shots against the Memphis defense. Tennessee is a top-50 offense in the nation averaging 83 points per game, as well as 49th in field goal percentage at 48.5% and their 21 assists per game are 2nd most of any team at the Division I level. With a dynamic offense led by the dynamic forward and guard duo of Grant Williams and Admiral Schofield averaging almost half those 83 points with 37.8 along with 15.3 rebounds and 7.7 assists.
Tennessee can get up and down the floor at will. But as much as they would like to get out in transition, in the half court it would behoove them to move the ball and get the best shots they can because Memphis struggles at every level defensively. The Tigers give up over 78 points per game, which ranks 302nd in the country. They also rank 290th allowing opponents to shoot 45.9% from the field and 36.9% from beyond the arc which is 291st best. So, while the Volunteers can likely get any shot they want, showing some patience in the half court should prove even more fruitful.
