Temple Owls

Temple has an uphill climb to a potential at-large bid but it is still important to mention that the team put together a strong week following their loss to Villanova on Dec. 5. During the past seven days, head coach Fran Dunphy’s team started to put it together with a couple of big victories over two Atlantic 10 teams (UMass and Davidson). And while these two wins came by two points each, they still go down as victories on the resume.

This week moved the Owls to 9-2 on the year with their two losses coming away from home against quality opponents in VCU (N) and Villanova (A). And in addition to their wins this week, Temple can also boast a couple of huge road wins over Missouri and Saint Joseph’s. Quite simple, Temple’s resume should not be overlooked at this point in time.

Looking ahead, it seems fairly likely that the Owls will settle around the NCAA Tournament bubble this season due to how weak the AAC seems to be at this point in time. UCF and Houston look like the two favorites in the conference but Temple, somewhat out of nowhere, might not be that far behind. As long Temple’s upperclassman duo of Shizz Alston and Quinton Rose continue to fill up the basket offensively, this team will compete near the top of the conference.
