Pennsylvania Quakers

During this past week, Penn made headlines around the nation with a monster home win over Villanova. And while the Wildcats are not as talented as they have been in recent years, this will likely go down as the biggest win over the Quakers’ season. This result, though, will go down as more than just a win over the Philadelphia Big 5 powerhouse. It also greatly improves Penn’s NCAA Tournament resume.

Sure, it would be nearly impossible for the Quakers to land an at-large selection but their win over Villanova likely improves their seed as a potential automatic bid. And considering Penn received just a No. 16 seed despite going 12-2 in Ivy League play last season, securing key non-conference wins could go a long way. Should the Quakers win the Ivy League tournament, they may look back on this win as the reason they have a realistic shot at a first-round upset.

Oh, and it would be a real shot because this Penn roster is extremely talented by Ivy League standards. The Quakers have a unique combination of veterans that can carry the load when times get tough and impactful freshman that could raise the team’s ceiling moving forward.
