4. A wig for Herb Jones

Last year, Herb Jones’s pairing of dynamic defense and transition offense caught the eyes of a lot of fans and scouts. His coming out party at home against Trae Young’s Oklahoma Sooners made many believe that Jones would take this team over with Sexton gone. The main thing that had to happen to see this transition was for Jones to grow his game on the offensive side of the ball. If he can expand his range and shoot behind the arc, he would be the new face of the Crimson Tide, and possibly a contributor on an NBA roster next year.

However, this has not yet happened. Jones is only averaging 7.4 points a game despite averaging 7 field goal attempts. His volume behind the arc hasn’t increased and he is only sinking 30% of his shots there. Herb’s defense is still strong, though. His ability to turn momentum by drawing charges is underrated. However, he needs to pick up the ball more in transition. Alabama doesn’t have enough skill players to allow a defensive specialist on the court.

The reason I chose a wig for Herb Jones is because he cut off his hair in the offseason and it reminds me of Frosty the Snowman. For Frosty, his hat gave him his magic, and he was simply a normal snowman without it. I believe this is the case for Herb. Without the hair, he is a simple basketball player. He needs his magic back, and his hair just might be the answer. I’m mostly joking, but hey, it’s only weird if it doesn’t work and Alabama fans would be willing to try anything.
