14. Virginia Tech Hokies

Record: 9-1 (0-0 ACC)

Last Week: No. 14

One of the most efficient offensive teams in the nation, Virginia Tech has jumped out to a strong start so far this season. They currently stand at 9-1 and added a fairly nice victory over Washington during this past week. And while they did not move much in the rankings, the Hokies could start to climb in a hurry considering an “easy” start to ACC play coming up.

With a ton of scoring options and two elite playmakers in Justin Robinson and Nickeil Alexander-Walker, this is a team that can put up numbers on just about anyone. This should bode tremendously well for ACC play as the Hokies look to take the next step as a program under head coach Buzz Williams. I am not, though, completely sold on how successful Virginia Tech will be this season.

Their best wins to date are over Purdue and Washington, two teams that have definitely underperformed compared to expectations so far this year. Additionally, VT’s loss on the road against Penn State does not look all that great, either. I do believe that the Hokies will be a very good team but we might not really find out until they take on Virginia on Jan. 15.
