12. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Record: 10-0 (0-0 Big 12)

Last Week: No. 10

Texas Tech has been sensational so far this season as one of the few remaining undefeated teams in the nation. With Jarrett Culver (19.1 points) leading the way, the Red Raiders have a go-to scorer to rely on and one of the best defenses in the country. Oh, and that Chris Beard guy is an okay coach, I guess.

And while Texas Tech’s strength of schedule is quite weak, the main reason why they are ranked so highly here is because of their domination to this point in the year. While other teams have allowed mid-majors to hang around in close games, the Red Raiders have simply demolished just about everyone in the path so far this season.

With arguably the best defense in the nation, the Red Raiders are yet to win a single game by less than 11 points. That is simply remarkable and a testament to how well they have played on both ends of the floor so far this season. With that said, though, a massive matchup looms with a neutral-site battle against Duke coming up in their next game. If the Red Raiders win that one, it’s time to start talking about them as a title contender.
