5. A more assertive Kevarrius Hayes
As I have stated throughout this piece, Florida has sort of inexplicably struggled offensively and need to figure out how to get back near the offensive numbers they put up last season. I think one thing that will help them in that regard would be a more offensively assertive Kevarrius Hayes.
Even though the senior center has never been much of an offensive threat in his career, he also has never been asked to be. The 6-9 center is enjoying his best offensive season to date, his 7.2 points are fifth on the team in scoring and he does lead the team in rebounding (6.2) and blocks (1.8).
Hayes is a guy that can step and demand to get the ball more for a team that can use all the offense it can get right now. Hayes has only attempted 39 shots on the year, but he is shooting it at 64% so it’s not like he isn’t making his shots. He only attempts four shots per game, and for a guy that is shooting it well on a team that does not, Hayes needs to step up and put a little more of that offensive burden on his shoulders.
As a senior, Hayes should demand the ball more when he is on the floor and take more leadership in fixing the Gators’ offense.
