1. The Hoosiers need perimeter consistency

Indiana is off to a solid 9-2 start this season but every team has things they can improve on. For the Hoosiers, one of the things they should hope is in their stocking on Christmas morning would be a more consistent perimeter game and, more specifically, more consistent three-point shooting.

While the Hoosiers rank 91st nationally and sixth in the Big Ten in 3-point field goal percentage this season, knocking down 36.6% of their shots, the 6.4 makes per game are just 286th best in the country and is only better than Minnesota in the conference.

The percentage can be a little deceiving, though, as Morgan (48%), freshman Rob Phinisee (43%), and senior Evan Fitzner (45%) are the only Hoosiers on the roster currently shooting over 40% from beyond the arc.  Those three have combined to hoist 75 3-point shots while Langford and Aljami Durham have jacked up 71, making just 21 for a 29.5% rate. With the rest of the roster combing to take just 45 shots, the fate of Indiana’s 3-point game will rest on the shoulders of these five.

In order to continue their good start into the meat of their conference schedule, Indiana is going to need better outside shooting as a whole as well as making sure that the right players are taking those shots.
