3. Better ball security

Another gift that should be on Indiana’s wish list should be a lock and key, to help them improve their ball security. The Hoosiers have coughed the ball up an average of 15 times per game this season, and have committed fewer than that number just twice since Nov. 14. Their 15 turnovers are the 271st worst number in the country and last among Big Ten teams.

That, coupled with the 15 turnovers they force per game, gives them a neutral turnover margin, which would be tenth in the conference. On the season, they have turned the ball over 165 times in 11 games, which means only 41 teams have turned it over more. By comparison, the nation’s leader, Virginia, has turned it over just 75 times in nine games.

Unfortunately for Coach Miller, it isn’t just one or two players causing the turnover issue. Morgan, Langford, Smith, and junior Devonte Green combine to turn the ball over nearly 10 times per game. The Hoosiers will have to improve their ball security moving forward as three Big Ten teams are in the top-100 nationally in turnovers forced per game and five are in the same range when it comes to turnover margin.
