Michigan Basketball has been one of the surprise teams in college basketball this year. Can they continue that into the new year and what would do they need for Christmas?

How does a team make it the national championship game, then lose three of their top players and still end up with a better team? Just ask Michigan Basketball. John Beilein is again working his magic this year, but it seems to be coming a little bit earlier in the season than in the past couple of years.

In each of the last two years, the Wolverines struggled to find themselves early and even looked like a borderline tournament team at times during those seasons. They would eventually find their true identity and run through the conference tournament in winning back to back championships. It seemed like Beilein was doing the best coaching of his career.

He seems to be doing an even better job this year as the Wolverines have cruised to a rather effortless 11-0 record to date. They beat their first eight opponents by at least 17 points, including wins over ranked Villanova, North Carolina, and Purdue. Throw in a blowout win against Providence who made the tournament last year and it is hard to argue that a team has had a better start then the Wolverines.

They even won a hard-fought road game at Northwestern and survived a putrid shooting half against Western Michigan to win in different ways. With such a great start it is hard to find things on the wish list for the Wolverines for Christmas. We dig deep and find five things that Michigan and their fans hope to see in the New Year and help them complete what could be a dream season for the Wolverines.
