5. Jordan Poole stays hot

The steadying force on this Wolverines team would be Zavier Simpson and Charles Matthews without question. They play great defense and you know exactly what you are going to get out of them. Simpson will be a great point guard who scores occasionally and Matthews is a 15 point per game player.

That is great to have, but there is something different when Jordan Poole gets hot. The energy he brings to the game and the excitement when he gets rolling is what can really carry a team. Michigan feeds off his energy and plays at a different level when he is on.

Poole is a matchup nightmare for most teams as he can get to the rim but can also get himself open on the perimeter. He has hit five three-pointers in a game three times this year including a perfect night against Purdue.

He got off to a slow start this year scoring in single digits in four of the first five games this year, but since then he has been great. In the last six games, he has averaged 18 points per game including two 20+ performances. Michigan’s offense runs much smoother when Poole is hitting his shots.

Simpson and Matthews may be the glue for this team, but Poole is the one that can really get this team going. If Poole continues his hot play he may find himself not only the best player on Michigan but one of the best in the Big Ten.
