Oregon must get to the line, and put Baylor there

The biggest factor for Oregon in this game, especially if the game is tight could come at the charity stripe. While the Ducks don’t shoot a ton of free throws, just 220 on the season, their 77.7% percentage is one of the better numbers in college basketball. Conversely, if the game is close late in the game, Baylor is a team you want to put on the line as they are one of the poorer free throw shooting teams in the country at just 65.8%.

Looking at the Oregon roster, no player has taken more attempts from the stripe than Payton Pritchard’s 41, and while they don’t shoot a ton, when they do shoot them, they usually knock them down. Of the seven players that have attempted at least 15 free throws, they all shoot over 70% and five of them shoot over 75%, led by Victor Bailey, Jr. who has missed just one all season.

On the other hand, Baylor has shot 187 free throws, making just 123. Mark Vital has had the most attempts on the Bears with 37 but he shoots just 43%. If the game is tight keep an eye on who Scott Drew wants to handle the ball and if Dana Altman deploys a hack-a-Bear strategy.
