Attack the rim
The one thing the Wolverines did well against Western Michigan was that they took the ball to the hoop. They did not shoot all that well from the outside but they attacked a mostly smaller Bronco lineup. In doing so they got to the foul line a lot, although they struggled to hit many of those.
Air Force does not have the talent to keep up with the Wolverines with their speed and ability to stretch the defenses, so Michigan needs to continue to attack the rim. They need to work the two-man game up top and look for driving lanes. Zavier Simpson and Charles Matthews have been great at that this year and Jon Teske has done a good job finishing at the rim.
Iggy Brazdeikis had a rough game against Western Michigan and could get back in rhythm by attacking the rim also. He has been great at taking guys off the dribble but seemed to go away from that for most of the game last weekend. He failed to score in the first half and didn’t get his first points until late in the game. Michigan plays better when he is scoring and that is done when he uses the dribble.
Michigan should be able to get to the rim a lot in this game and they need to continue to finish. Use that to open up the outside game and then hit their shots. If they can do this early they should be able to put this game away in the first half.
