Seton Hall Pirates

Heading into this season, many (myself included) did not have high expectations for Seton Hall. After losing four huge seniors, the Pirates were expected to take a major step back this year. Yet, head coach Kevin Willard has done a superb job with this roster and star player Myles Powell has emerged as just that…a star. Seton Hall played one of the more difficult non-conference schedules in the land (76th nationally) and their 9-3 record is not only surprising but also incredibly impressive.

During this past week, the Pirates snagged one of the most underrated wins by going on the road and taking down Maryland thanks to a combined 50 points from Powell and Myles Cale. And considering how much the Big East has struggled against the Big Ten this year, this victory may mean a little bit more for the conference. Also, it is important to mention that the Big East as a whole put together a great week:

Seton Hall, though, was the biggest winner in regards to bracketology because of how important road wins over quality wins can be. The Pirates snagged a bit one over the Terrapins that should mean a lot come March. Kevin Willard’s team has definitely surprised me this year and they should receive their fair share of top-25 votes this week.
