3) I don’t think Kansas is that good, either

I’ve been saying this for a little while now and, after that loss to the Sun Devils on Saturday night, it feels like the right time to bring it up again – Kansas has quietly been struggling over the last month.

First, let me start by saying that the Jayhawks are a good team and I’m not trying to tell you that they’re terrible. That said, they have not been playing like a team that belongs in the top-tier, let alone at the No. 1 spot.

Vermont gave them a handful in the second game of the season, then Stanford took them to overtime at Allen Fieldhouse, then they only managed to beat New Mexico State and a not-so-great Villanova team by three points apiece. Everyone outside of Dedric Lawson has struggled, they don’t stretch the court with their perimeter shooting, and are only an average rebounding team.

A good part of their recent struggles can be blamed on the absence of Udoka Azubuike due to an ankle injury, but those struggles pre-date that injury.

I don’t think this will be the year Texas Tech (or someone else) knocks the Jayhawks from the top of the Big 12, but there is reason to be concerned about KU.
