20. Wofford Terriers (9-4)

Arriving on the scene after beating North Carolina on the road last December, Wofford has remained a legitimate mid-major threat in the Southern Conference. They already have a win over East Tennessee State (No. 21 on this list) to begin conference play from earlier this month. The Buccaneers and South Carolina represent the biggest wins for the team to this point.

Wofford does have four losses but three of them were to ranked teams (UNC, Kansas, and Mississippi State), with the fourth coming to a likely future ranked team in the Oklahoma Sooners. But still, three of those defeats were still very competitive, proving the Terriers strength.

Last season, Fletcher Magee was the team’s leading scorer at 22 ppg and was the clear go-to option for the team. This year the senior guard has lowered his scoring to 17.8 ppg but it may be to the team’s benefit. Forward Cameron Jackson and fellow guard Nathan Hoover have provided more balance on the offensive end, averaging 14.8 ppg and 13.2 ppg respectively. Now Wofford doesn’t have to rely solely on Magee to put up big numbers in order to win games in the Southern Conference.

The Terriers continue to be a solid offensive unit while improving on the other end compared to a year ago. The overall balance to the team will put them in a much better position to win the conference, which has both ETSU and another outstanding team to be named later in their way.
