10. Oklahoma State Cowboys (6-6)

Previous Ranking: No. 10

At the time of the previous rankings, I said that all that Oklahoma State could hope for to finish their non-conference slate would be to win their two easy home games, and head into conference play at .500.

Have they done that? Yes.

Was it particularly pretty? No.

On December 21st, Oklahoma State beat a 4-8 Central Arkansas team by just nine points. Lindy Waters scored just ten points, and the Cowboys needed a 23 point performance off the bench from Curtis Jones.

Then, just one week later, the Cowboys struggled in an eventual ten point win over Texas A&M Corpus Christi. The Cowboys led by just seven at halftime, and needed a big second half on offense to pull away from the 5-8 Islanders.

While the Cowboys haven’t looked amazing as a team, they’ve gotten solid production from individual players. Junior forward Cameron McGriff is averaging 13 points and seven rebounds per game, while Waters is leading the way with 11/5/3 per game.

Oklahoma State will open up conference play at home against Iowa State on January 2nd. The Cowboys will need a big win against a good Iowa State team if they want any chance at building momentum for what should be a tough conference season.
