3. Nevada Wolf Pack

It is time to start seriously considering the potential of Nevada landing a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament at the end of the year. The Wolf Pack currently stand as one of the only four undefeated teams left in the nation and they arguably have the best chance of any team to roll through their conference schedule still unbeaten. Per KenPom, Nevada is projected to finish 16-2 in Mountain West play but there is a 12.7% chance that they finish undefeated.

If this turns out to be the case, it would be nearly impossible to leave Nevada off the top line (although we never quite know what the committee is thinking). The Wolf Pack have not played the toughest schedule in the nation to this point in the year but they do have a few quality victories to put on their resume. They also have shown very few signs of weakness so far this season.

Even though Utah State and Fresno State have played fairly well to this point in the year, I find it hard to believe that either one would be able to take down Nevada in conference play. Of course, it is very difficult to run the table during the regular season but this is an elite team playing in a conference that is currently ranked at just 11th in the nation (slightly ahead of the Ivy League…).
