#14: George Washington Colonials

There is no clear-cut worst team in the A10 so far this season, but of all the teams in the conversation, GW has shown the least promise. At 4-9, their best win is against a mediocre American University squad, and their losses include Siena, Stony Brook, and a 35-point rout against South Carolina. The Colonials have picked up the pace a little bit of late, winning three of their last five, but none of those victories (Towson, Howard, American) have been against A10 quality opponents.

Although they’re relatively young and inexperienced as a team, the Colonials are not devoid of talent. Terry Nolan Jr. and Illinois transfer DJ Williams are both more than respectable A10 starters, and role players like Maceo Jack and Justin Mazzulla have shown flashes at times, but the team hasn’t played with nearly enough consistency overall. If the Colonials had a chance to start out conference play against other probable A10 basement teams, I might like their chances to build off of their recent success and pick up some momentum. Unfortunately, however, their first two games are at St. Joe’s and against Dayton, so they’ll likely be 0-2 before they have a chance to get in the win column.
