A pair of Top-25 teams will duel in Ann Arbor on Sunday, when #2 Michigan will take on #21 Indiana. Here are three storylines to watch.
Is it fair to say that the Big 10 is the most unpredictable conference year-in and year-out? While both Michigan and Indiana were expected to be solid teams this season, both teams have well outplayed their preseason predictions.
Michigan has been one of, if not the most surprising power conference team in the country. The Wolverines are 14-0, and have demolished both Villanova and North Carolina.
Meanwhile, Indiana has had an impressive start to the season in its own right. The Hoosiers are 12-2, and have big wins over Butler, Louisville, and Marquette.
Indiana is undefeated at home, with its only two losses of the season coming on the road against Duke and Arkansas. Heading to Ann Arbor will be a major test for a young Indiana team that has yet to show the ability to win away from home.
The winner of Sunday’s game will quite possibly emerge as a favorite to win the conference. Of course Michigan State and Wisconsin pose threats, but a win for Michigan would simply just affirm their status at the top, while a win for Indiana would shoot them up the rankings in both the Top-25 and the Big 10.
Both teams are undefeated thus far in conference play, and both are contenders to make a run in the Big 10. Sunday’s game will be a major indicator as to where the top of the conference stands in January, as well as the general divide of power in the Big 10 this season.
Michigan and Indiana, despite having much different seasons last season, are no strangers to battling it out at the top of the Big 10 on a frequent basis. This season serves as a return to past seasons, as Indiana and Michigan have routinely been contenders to win the Big 10.
Let’s take a look at the top three storylines to watch in what should be an exciting battle between two of the top teams in the Big 10, the Michigan Wolverines and Indiana Hoosiers.
