The first two weeks of Big 12 Basketball conference play have been a turbulent journey. How does the league shape up mid-way through January?

I think it is fair to say that we haven’t seen a Big 12 conference this balanced in a long, long time.

To sum it up, just two weeks into conference play, we have:

  • Just one team that is still unbeaten in conference play (Texas Tech)
  • Just one team that is still winless in conference play (West Virginia)
  • Five ranked teams combining for six losses just this past week.

Yeah, there is a lot to unpack after just four games for each team. Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered.

Now, while there is a good balance of power in the Big 12, that is by no means a detriment to the quality of the teams in the conference. This isn’t a Pac 12-like balance of power, where the balance is more of a balance of sub-par teams.

In the Big 12, there is a balance of good teams, with just two truly “great” teams. The rankings will speak for themselves, but past numbers one and two, there is a whole lot of confusion in spots three-through-eight.

In terms of tournament teams, the Big 12 has plenty of those. Realistically, we’re going to see anywhere from six to eight Big 12 schools in the field of 68. That’s pretty good, even considering the weak nature of this years’ bubble.

Alright, enough of the tournament talk. Without further delay, here are where the ten Big 12 teams rank after the first two full weeks of conference play.
