Conference play is finally underway in SEC Basketball. With an opening schedule filled with upsets, where do the teams rank now?

SEC basketball fans, rejoice. With college football finally over, all eyes will be on the hardwood as the conference begins to battle each other. So far, most fans have been surprised with some results.

Conference play shows just how hard it is to win in the SEC. Ole Miss shocked the conference by beating both Auburn and Mississippi State in their first three conference games. The Bulldogs were also upset by South Carolina, the only team in the conference to enter the new year with a losing record. However, the Gamecocks managed to also beat Florida, so they might be turning the corner in their season.

All of this is without mentioning the fact that Alabama was able to beat Kentucky for the first time in Avery Johnson’s tenure at the Capstone. After that game, however, they lost on the road to LSU and at home against a struggling Texas A&M.

The only team that has performed as expected has been the Tennessee Volunteers. We all believed that they were the best team in the SEC, and they have proven that to be the case so far. After embarrassing Georgia at home to start, they also won back-to-back games against Missouri and Florida. The game against the Tigers was convincing, but it took a better second-half performance against the Gators to come out with the win.

As the season progresses, it will become clearer which teams deserve to make it to the NCAA Tournament. However, now is the time where they must make their case. Because of that, every game is crucial.

So, how do the teams rank against each other? Here’s what I got.
