NCAA Basketball Power Rankings: Tennessee, MSU vie for top spot
24. Florida State Seminoles
Record: 13-5 (1-4 ACC)
Last Week: No. 11
Not many teams were as disappointing as Florida State during this past week. Despite starting the year at 13-2, the Seminoles have now lost three in a row, including defeats at the hands of Pittsburgh and Boston College. Even though both of these most recent losses came on the road, there were to teams that the nationally-ranked Seminoles should have been able to take down. Now, after entering conference play as one of the favorites to win the ACC, Florida State sits at 1-4 in conference and with lots of work to do.
Moving forward, the Seminoles absolutely need to do a better job limiting fouls around the basket. To this point in the year, Florida State is allowing opponents to attempt foul shots at an astronomical rate (314th in opp. FTAr) and that has been detrimental to their play on the whole. In my opinion, this is still one of the most talented teams in the country but they need to turn around their fortunes.
At this point in time, it could easily be reasoned that Florida State no longer belongs in my top-25+ but their wins over Florida, LSU, and Purdue still hold weight. The issue is that all of these victories came in November and their resume is starting to seriously plummet.
