NCAA Basketball Power Rankings: Tennessee, MSU vie for top spot
22. Iowa Hawkeyes
Record: 16-3 (5-3 Big Ten)
Last Week: Not Ranked
Behind one of the best offenses in the nation, Iowa has won 10 of its last 11 games and is doing so in convincing fashion. Their last five wins are all over teams ranked in the KenPom top-100 and two of those came away from Carver-Hawkeye. And while there are still plenty of questions surrounding Iowa’s play on the defensive end of the floor, not many teams will be able to consistently slow down the scoring.
With five players averaging in double-figures in scoring, this is a team that is very difficult to stop. Someone new can really go off on any given night and that makes them dangerous on the offensive end. Perhaps most importantly, though, Jordan Bohannon is starting to find his rhythm from beyond the arc a bit more. As a team, Iowa shoots the ball extremely well from beyond the arc.
Above all other factors, Iowa is a team that takes and makes a ton of free throws. They rank third in the nation in FTAr while also hitting on 75.7% of their attempts from the charity stripe (28th). If they continue to get to the line at this high rate, they will keep winning games.
