SEC Basketball already has the No. 1 team in the country right now. Could the league also have the top player in the country as well?

Consistency. That is the one word you can always associate with SEC basketball. The conference is home to one of the blue blood schools in the Kentucky Wildcats. The fact that every coach is trying to beat Kentucky has upped the competition level in this conference.  The SEC carries clout, and that clout usually leads to top recruits and players picking a school in this conference to play for. Getting the top players each year leads to one thing for every school in the league. Consistency.

This year is no different as the conference is home to the number one team in the entire country. A few of the teams are also making surprise runs to the NCAA tournament. Others who were expected to be good, could not overcome a few key injuries or early losses, and are not living up their expectations. The bottom line is come tournament time these schools carry clout, as most of the power 5 conference schools do. The SEC has two real title contenders among their ranks.

The Player of the Year award in the SEC is one that is extremely hard to win. There are so many good players every year in the conference. The following players on this list are all very important to their teams, and the way these players play matters in the win and loss column. Over half of this list is going to find themselves on NBA rosters next year, and they all may have successful careers in the NBA. Even though the award is already won, the following five players should all be considered for the player of the year in the SEC.
