Marquette and Villanova have clearly emerged as the top teams in Big East basketball but where does every other team stack up?

Does anyone know what is going on after Villanova and Marquette in Big East basketball right now? Those two teams are clearly the top two teams in the league and that is 100% evident in the standings. Through almost half of conference play, eight of the ten teams in the conference are below .500 in conference play while Nova (8-0) and Marquette (8-1) stand alone atop the league.

With that said, there is still plenty of time left in the year for teams to solidify their positions within the conference rankings. Because of the fact that the teams tied for last place in the conference right now (Butler and DePaul, 3-6) are just one game out of third place (4-5), these rankings are based on non-conference play and other factors. At this moment, it is impossible to say exactly where each team stands in the conference.

Additionally, only Villanova and Marquette are “locks” for the NCAA Tournament. After them, it seems as though St. John’s, Creighton, Seton Hall, and Butler are all still in the running to snag at-large bids but they all have work left to do. In the end, I feel as though the conference will be able to land 3-4 bids to the Big Dance and those teams will be battling it out as the year goes on.
