Florida Basketball has a tremendous chance at a signature resume win this weekend against the Kentucky Wildcats. Here are the keys for the Gators to get the win.

The best word to describe Florida Basketball 12-8 (4-3) this season has been “inconsistent”, with the team looking good on some nights – and really bad other times. The Gators have had one of the toughest overall schedules this season which is the reason for the eight losses, none of them being considered “bad”.

But Florida needs to start winning games, as they’re squarely right on the bubble. In our latest Bracketology, the Gators are one of the last teams in, with just a simple losing streak able to push them out of contention. That’s why their 90-85 overtime win this week over Ole Miss was so crucial, as it represents one of their biggest wins of the season.

Mike White’s team hopes to continue that trend this weekend against red hot Kentucky 17-3 (6-1), currently riding a seven-game winning streak. The Wildcats are coming off a 35-point thrashing against Vanderbilt on the road, which was after last week’s big win against the Kansas Jayhawks.

Kentucky has emerged as the biggest contender to Tennessee for the SEC Regular Season title while fighting for a top seed in the NCAA Tournament. Their underclassmen are coming into their own and have shaken off the early season struggles.

Had Florida played this team earlier on, the odds would’ve been better for them to pull off the upset. Now, it’s a longshot for the Gators this weekend. But bigger shockers have occurred, and this is a desperate team. So here are the top keys for them to be mighty Kentucky.
