Kansas Basketball is looking to avoid a three-game losing streak in conference play when the take on Texas Tech. Here are the keys for the Jayhawks to wind up with the win.
As the preseason No. 1 team in the country, Kansas Basketball was supposed to have an easier time winning the Big 12 Regular Season title this season. When fully healthy, the Jayhawks had superior talent from the other contenders in the conference and was the heavy favorite.
Unfortunately. Bill Self’s team hasn’t been fully healthy, losing junior center Udoka Azubuike. His Kansas is in a tie for third place in the Big 12 with a 5-3 overall record, after losing three of the team’s last four games. They lost by 10 points on the road this week to Texas while giving up 23 free throw attempts and 10 made three-pointers. The 63 points scored is the second lowest offensive output for Kansas this season.
The Jayhawks now take on No. 16 Texas Tech 17-4 (5-3), a team who themselves have taken a recent fall in conference play. The Red Raiders had lost three straight games in the Big 12, before winning their last two games.
This week, Chris Beard’s team had a big 84-65 home win over TCU, with three different players scoring 17+ points in the contest. Now tied with Kansas in the standings, this is a huge game in terms of jockeying for position in the league for the second half of conference play.
With the game being in Allen Fieldhouse and a return trip in Lubbock coming later this month, this is a near must-win game for Kansas for title contention. Here are the keys for the Jayhawks getting this huge victory.
